Diesel vehicles are only about 9 % of the on-road fleet in China but are estimated to be the country’s largest on-road source of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) emissions. Indeed, in 2021, diesel vehicles were responsible for 88.3 % of vehicle NOx emissions and 99 % of vehicle PM emissions in China. This brochure is a synopsis of ICCT’s work on diesel emission control in China.
